This Week’s Quotation:
“The Mother principle is the depth of the substance of the deep. No one knows enlightenment, no one brings light to the world, without welcoming the Mother to their experience.”
~ Becoming a Sun, page 40
Breathing the Mother

Around the world, mothers are revered and held sacred. There is a deep understanding that without mothers, life would not exist. The Mother principle reminds us that all creation requires a womb within which to gestate, through which life may be born into the world of form, and later held and protected during the formative cycles of any lifetime.
The space of Mother is the space of the Womb. It is dark and rich with nutrients, fluid and resilient, and holds the source codes for the world of form. It gives and receives, holds things in, and keeps things out. It is a place of meeting of all elements of life, and wise discernment of how to hold them for the purposes of creation. It allows for birth into and through form, and back into Spirit.
There is a womb space, a Mother, in all of us, in which we hold the essences of creation for ourselves and those in our field with whom we have creative exchanges—and perhaps, for creation that occurs in the larger field without our conscious awareness. We exist to birth Spirit into form and transmute form into Spirit.
How can we cultivate the Mother space within us, and honor the Mother space in all that is?
Let us build the relational field of exchange that is the Mother, where all moves in and out in reciprocal flow, and grow our capacity for giving and receiving, for holding and birthing.
It is as natural as breathing. Will you breathe with the All That Is?
What does it mean to become a sun?
Every human being is already a sun on the inside—a being of intense love and light. The difference is that some people have the vision and courage to become a sun on the outside. This difference is our human destiny.

What a deep and rich revelation of the Mother. thank you, Maria!
Thank you, Maria. It is substantial to be mothering with you – mothering spirit, mothering the Christ, mothering what matters most to a sinking humanity. Thanks to you and David for this care for and attention to the necessary Womb atmosphere in me to let the NEW and the SACRED be born. I also want to recommend the Primal Spirituality and other opportunities which appear near your blog to any who read this. THANK YOU. Blessings, Tom C.
My Mother (and actually my Father and my Brother), are my world. I feel their ‘essence’ periodically – sometimes when I feel hurt, or alone (never really alone – so many beautiful friends) – but some nights I am awakened by a soft feeling that those I so love are reminding me that they are Always with me.
Thank you, Maria, for emphasizing how important it is to bring forth the values and qualities associated with the Divine Mother in our living. I think we would be much closer to world peace if there were more women in positions of authority. And how essential it is to honor Mother Nature to maintain our planet as a livable entity.
So beautifully expressed in the Spirit and Vibration of Mother, Maria. <3 Bless you and your representation of the Womb which has welcomed us all to this world. Thank you.
Hi Maria, have you been eavesdropping on my emails for the last month?
On 26 Jan 2026 I received an insight/revelation that the Divine Mother (who embodied as Anandamayi Ma from 1896-1982) is the Holy Spirit referred to by Christians. In the Hebrew Bible, the Spirit of God is Ruach HaKodesh (Hebrew: רוח הקודש, literally ‘Spirit of Holiness’) and refers to the Spirit or Breath of God which transmits Divine Power (Shakti to Hindus). In Hebrew, Ruach is a FEMININE noun. Likewise Rukh d’Qudsha in Aramaic, the language of Ye’shua better known as Jesus or Issa to Muslims (Ruh al-Quds) the Spirit or Breath of God are also feminine. This is not coincidental since both Hebrew and Arabic stem from the much older Semitic root language of Aramaic. All three Abrahamic religions based on these three related languages acknowledge the Divine Spirit or Breath of God as do the Hindu Upanishads which refer to Brahman as having ‘the power of breath’. This, however, has nothing to do with the much later invented Christian doctrine of the Trinity.
So far the most significant resonance I have found for ‘Mother as Breath’ in Anandamayi Ma’s teachings is the quote … “When by the flood of your tears, the inner and the outer have fused into One, you will find Her whom you sought with such anguish, nearer than the nearest, the very breath of life, the very core of every heart.” Occasionally, I find other mentions of ‘breath’ by her.
Some spontaneous insights that have come to me since making the connection that the Divine Mother who Breathes through us as the Holy Spirit or Holy Breath of God include…
The Divine or Cosmic Mother, who is the Holy Spirit/Holy Breath of God, Breathes the Light of God.
Every breath we receive is Mother AS the Breath. Mother IS every Breath and is IN every breath.
As Mother enters and lives in us as the Breath, we become the embodiment of Her Light in our luminous flesh.
Mother is with me and lives within me as Her Breath.
You Mother are my very Breath
You Mother are my every Breath.
Mother Herself gives us the Breath to chant Her Name. (Anandamayi Ma – Bliss-permeated Mother or Jyotirmayi Ma – Light-permeated Mother)
Even the first primordial sound of AUM, according to Hinduism, required Mother’s Breath.
I AM Being Breathed by the Divine Mother.
As I release the Breath with each exhalation, I surrender to Mother knowing that, as She is the Source of my Breath, it is Her Choice and Her Will, and it is within Her Power to give me another Breath. Each Breath is a gift from Mother.
It is all for Her Purpose whether I Breathe or not.
As I release the Breath surrendering to Her, I fall into Her arms and rest. Deep Rest.
For the last few years I have been saying to people that “The Holy Spirit has been leading me back to Itself as the Breath.” Now I need to say, “The Holy Spirit has been leading me back to Herself as the Breath.”
The Breath of Mother has truly been for me the divine gift that keeps giving.
Do you experience Mother as the Breath?
If you would like to have a conversation about this please get in touch. I have more I could share on the Mother.
