This Week’s Quotation:

Generosity is a quality that applies to every aspect of life. It can relate to physical things or even to your handling of money, but it is far more than that. It is the experience that you have more to give in any area of your life. More creative thought to give to a problem. More love to give to another person. More stamina and endurance to give to a project you have undertaken.

Generosity of Spirit

Gary Goodhue,
Spiritual Teacher, Workshop Leader

Why do we feel good when we give? Because generosity is natural to the Spirit, and we are spiritual beings having a human experience. We are at our most natural when we are in attunement with the spiritual aspect of ourselves. The human experience in this world is wrought with lack and limitation. Yet the spiritual realm is one of abundance and possibility.

The more we give, the more we receive. It is a natural law of the Universe. Everything we express in thought, word, and deed communicates to the rest of Creation about the reality we claim and call forth as our experience.

That’s a heavy statement, but let’s look at it.

When you give freely out of a spirit of love, you claim that you live in a reality of abundance and possibility. When you are withholding out of fear, you claim that you live in a reality of lack and limitation.

Michelangelo said, “As you give out, so shall you receive.” Similarly, Jesus counseled that more will be given to the one who has, and they shall have abundance. The “has” that Jesus refers to is generosity. Generosity is a radiation of love in expression, with or without form.

May you be generous in your response to Love Almighty, and generous in giving yourself to your world.

What does it mean to become a sun?

Every human being is already a sun on the inside—a being of intense love and light. The difference is that some people have the vision and courage to become a sun on the outside. This difference is our human destiny.

  1. Beautifully put Gary – “When you give freely out of a spirit of love, you claim that you live in a reality of abundance and possibility. When you are withholding out of fear, you claim that you live in a reality of lack and limitation.”

It is a wonderful reminder to us of how the Greatness of life works.

    Blessings…..

  2. Absolutely, Gary. Life itself has shown the ultimate generosity by giving us existence, full resources (air, water, food, etc.), potential partners, family, consciousness, friends who raise that consciousness, and on and on forever (indeed the universe we have been given seems to do just that). So why not GIVE of myself … on and no forever? LOVE AND THANKS ALWAYS, Tom C.

  3. Though some may not have a great abundance of material resources to give, everyone possesses an abundance of spiritual resources, and giving from that inexhaustible spiritual reservoir is the essence of generosity available to all.
