This Week’s Quotation:
…men and women are called to spiritual mastery, by whatever name. They are called to be spiritual masters, not out of arrogance or of pretense, not out of human whim or determination. They are called to be masterful in letting what’s present in the invisible pour through and transform consciousness. And if we are called in this way, it really doesn’t matter much that there are many other people who do not hear the same call. We have the work that is ours to do.
~ Becoming a Sun p. 289
Ours to Do
It’s so easy to fall into the trap of comparison, looking to others’ lives, achievements, or even struggles, and measuring ourselves against them. But if we dwell there, it distracts us from the work only we are here to do. Sometimes, it can even feel “unfair” that we were dealt a particular hand in life while others seem to be dealt a different one. Yet we truly never know the whole picture of another’s journey. The invitation to spiritual mastery is not about fairness or privilege; it’s about hearing and heeding our own inner call.
We’re responsible for our own calling, whatever shape that takes. In the end, it’s not about getting everyone else on board with what we’re doing or even understanding why we’re doing it. It’s about knowing that the path we walk is uniquely ours. The more we focus on expressing our own gifts, the more fulfilled we feel. We can let others live their lives as they will. It doesn’t diminish what we’re here to offer.
So, let’s honor the work that is ours to do. Let’s show up for it, wholeheartedly, without worrying about the results or comparing ourselves to others. Trust that every small act of love, every contribution you make, radiates beyond what you may ever see.
What does it mean to become a sun?
Every human being is already a sun on the inside—a being of intense love and light. The difference is that some people have the vision and courage to become a sun on the outside. This difference is our human destiny.

How true, Lana, that we each have our own unique spiritual work to do and that comparing ourselves to what others are doing can be a distraction. And it also not wise to attempt to get others to do spiritual work just as we are doing it. We each have our own spiritual path in life and our job on earth is simply to be absolutely true to it.
Yes. Absolutely agree with Jerry. I love your phrase “show up wholeheartedly”, Lana. WITH YOU in that. And here’s to this website. I strongly support all the postings and the book BECOMING A SUN on this site. Please note the NEW book PRIMAL CHRISTIANITY. One of my favorites… strongly recommend…. and lots more articles too. Much VERTICAL reading to take us higher. Go SPIRIT! Aloha from Oahu, Tom C
