This Week’s Quotation:

Reciprocity is the process by which people are initiated into their own wholeness. When your atmosphere of understanding surrounds the process, you can be the kind of person who heals the places where reciprocity is broken in your own life. You can be a person who invites others into your own full experience of reciprocity.

Reciprocity Restored

Maria Zayas, Teacher, and counselor of the heart and soul.

It takes a minute to process that our wholeness may be related to our engagement in reciprocity. How might that be?

Thinking about the flow of life processes in our physical bodies, such as the flow of breath, or the flow of blood or lymph, we can see the necessity of something coming and something going, and that it is this flow of giving and receiving, of mutuality, that maintains the life current fresh and powerful, allowing our bodies to function as a whole unit. So it is with our emotions, our thinking processes, and with the flow of spirit.

There are so many sayings in the cultures of the world that gently remind us that we are not meant to live alone, in isolation from others, separated from the flow of life in the world. But how often do we really delve into an understanding of this dynamic?

We are part of a whole at all levels. We cannot breathe without the oxygen that is in the Earth’s atmosphere. And the oxygen is released from the oceans through photosynthesis in marine plants. And so on…

If these processes of reciprocity are somehow impaired, we are unable to function at a certain point. Having this degree of understanding of the centrality of reciprocity in life, we are now able to open ourselves to receiving from Source in all its manifestations, and to the sharing of ourselves in a dance of ongoing creation and re-creation! Won’t you join me and invite others into the dance of life?

What does it mean to become a sun?

Every human being is already a sun on the inside—a being of intense love and light. The difference is that some people have the vision and courage to become a sun on the outside. This difference is our human destiny.

  1. As you beautifully bring out, Maria, the dance of life is a dance of reciprocity, giving and receiving, flowing love to others in recognition of our oneness and receiving love in return. Good to be in this dance with you.

  2. I am very pleased to communicate with you, Maria, like this! In my life, the reciprocal principle has been the main theme. The following story was an example of it.

I took care of my mother, who had dementia for eight years, in my home. When I first met that challenging situation, I felt despair and unhappiness. But I remembered my mother’s unconditional love from childhood, and I could anticipate that I had a good opportunity to return my love to my mother, who had become dependent on me as I had in my childhood.

  3. Thank-you Maria. Reciprocity a return to wholeness within is restored in me as I realize that I am not alone. I am as we all are a part of a much bigger whole. As I live into the whole and surrender to the magnifence the wonder of life there are no limits to the possibilities that life can be. A bold and beautiful world is available for all of us to live into.
