This Week’s Quotation:
“People’s capacity to love in a generous way is born from their spiritual body. … When you understand that you have a neverending source of the universal power of love within you, then, in the atmosphere of that understanding, your mind, your body, and your emotions learn to make that connection.”
—Becoming a Sun, p. 82
The Atmosphere of Love

For years I assumed love was something I had to produce. If I wasn’t feeling loving, I needed to try harder. Sound familiar to anyone?
David offers a completely different picture here. Love isn’t something we manufacture. The source of Love is something we awaken to. He doesn’t say make the connection through effort. He says it’s learned in the atmosphere of understanding.
That word stopped me.
Atmosphere.
We all know what atmosphere is. Walk into a room where people are laughing and something in you relaxes. Walk into a room full of conflict and your body knows before anyone speaks.
Maybe spiritual life works the same way. As we become aware of the endless Source of Love within us, we find ourselves in that atmosphere. We don’t force our thoughts to change. We don’t wrestle our emotions into submission. We simply remain present in the atmosphere long enough that everything else begins to learn from it.
I’ve noticed this in my own life. The moments when love flows most naturally are usually the moments I’ve stopped trying to produce it.
Maybe becoming a more loving person isn’t about trying harder.
Maybe it’s about living in the atmosphere where the neverending source of Love has been all along.
What does it mean to become a sun?
Every human being is already a sun on the inside—a being of intense love and light. The difference is that some people have the vision and courage to become a sun on the outside. This difference is our human destiny.

Big thanks, Lana. I’m in total agreement. I comment on the text so often that this time I’d like to comment on the two photos. One is a wonderful angel with two glorious wings. The other is two glorious angels with one wonderful Love. Beautiful. Love to all, Tom C.
