This Week’s Quotation:
“There is a great tendency in our culture to attribute the cause of things to the world of space and time. It seems easier to believe that the causative factors in our life are things that happen away from us, as opposed to inside us, and in the past as opposed to the present. The Big Bang Theory is one example of this. It pushes the causative factor for creation as far as it could possibly get from the individual.”

The Power of Love Within You

David points to the common tendency to feel subject to things outside ourselves. There is a humorous expression, “The devil made me do it,” made famous by Flip Wilson. This one seems obvious in its naming the cause as something outside ourselves. But there are subtle ways we look for a cause that takes away our authority and ability to bring the power of our creative spirit.
Usually, we look for causes when things don’t go well. It may be as simple as losing a ball game (though some take that very seriously!). You could blame your teammates or the ref. But it may be as large as a failed relationship or the loss of a job. Whether you blame your culture, family, or the circumstances, you remove your opportunity to bring your authority and creative ideas.
When faced with a challenge, it is wise to slow down, wait, think, and honestly bless the circumstance, even when things are feeling unfair.
Here are some helpful things to ask yourself in those circumstances. What would Love have me see is happening? What would Love have me say in this moment? You get the picture. That Love is inside you, always, and when you pay attention to it, you bring the power of your creative spirit from inside you into the present moment. The causative factors are in your hands.
What does it mean to become a sun?
Every human being is already a sun on the inside—a being of intense love and light. The difference is that some people have the vision and courage to become a sun on the outside. This difference is our human destiny.

This is a basic teaching that I absorbed 56 years ago and I have spent my life training my body, mind and heart to bring more of the Love that I AM into expression in my living.
Beautifully said, Jane, and oh, so true. Thank you! As we accept responsibility for circumstances in our lives we have the grand opportunity to bring love into the world.
