Rain Dance 140531

Look, it’s raining!
A warm, July shower,
filling all the gullies
creeks and valleys
and soaking my body
to the bone.
It’s raining!
and I’m out the door,
down the street,
singing among the drops
and dancing in the puddles,
loving being wet
on every inch of skin,
deep into my parched heart
and cooling my fevered mind;
thoughts flowing as a river
of dark water down
the mountain of my soul.
I am now alive and strong
and vast like I’ve never known myself to be
in this life.

I remember reading your poem a while back, David, but I came across it just now and thought perhaps I can say, and accept, these words as my words as well. Although it might be too cold right now to go out dancing in the rain, I can still dance, singing among the drops, and loving being wet deep into my heart and cooling my fevered mind, thoughts flowing as a river of dark water down the mountain of my soul. I am now alive and strong and vast like I’ve never known myself to be before. Thank you, David, for this beautiful poetry, for sharing it with all of us. I love what ii says, what it means!
