The Field of Conscious Awareness

There is a way that most of us think about our human experience that establishes unnatural limits to the creative fulfillment of our lives. Ideas within Western thought—developed over centuries and even millennia—have become more than intellectual constructs. To our minds, they are reality. But they are not. And they have us conceiving of our existence in a way that doesn’t work for us.

Take the way we think we are thinking. We assume our thoughts are contained within our brains. Are they? No doubt, the brain is a crucial instrument that enables the process. But that doesn’t mean our thoughts are contained within our brain. 

Is it possible that thinking is not just an individual matter? And that we are made to think the thoughts that our world wants to have through us? 

If we allow it to be so, our thoughts are taking place in the mind of the world in which we live. Biologist and author Rupert Sheldrake put it this way: 

The morphic fields of mental activity are not confined to the insides of our heads. 

Now consider what you feel emotionally. Where is that taking place? In your physical heart? In your belly? Certainly, we register emotions in the body. But aren’t we, by our very nature, empathetic beings? We feel what other people are feeling. We feel what the trees, grasses, and seas are feeling.

Consider the possibility that what you are feeling is the emotional heart of your world. You are feeling the people around you, the puppy lying on the floor, and the flowers enjoying the late-afternoon sun.

Knowing this to be true, we can deliberately initiate new patterns of thought and feeling for our world and the people in it. With the power of conscious choice, we can bring the vibration of a higher love into thought and feeling. We can reshape and uplift our world, injecting new life into the field of conscious awareness.

What does it mean to become a sun?

Every human being is already a sun on the inside—a being of intense love and light. The difference is that some people have the vision and courage to become a sun on the outside. This difference is our human destiny.
