This Week’s Quotation:
“Most often enlightenment is thought of as something to be received. And while there is some receiving involved, enlightenment is not primarily something that can be received. It is something you give. A person knows enlightenment as it is given. In whatever way a person might seek enlightenment, on that basis it is never found. You cannot seek enlightenment and find it.”
—p. 235, Becoming A Sun
The Light You Give

What changes if the most important light in our lives is not the light we receive, but the light we give?
There is a movement to spiritual life. Something is always being offered from that deeper place within us, from the Source of our being. A quiet impulse of Love. A knowing. A word waiting to be spoken. A kindness waiting to be given.
Maybe enlightenment isn’t so much a light we take in, but a light we allow to move through us.
Receive the impulse.
Let it move.
Give it form.
Let it move into the world.
What begins quietly within finds its way into our hands, our words, our choices, our relationships . . . into the way we meet the person in front of us and the way we move through an ordinary day.
Like the sun, we are not here simply to gather light. We are here to let it shine.
And that changes the questions we might bring to our spiritual lives. Instead of always asking, What can I receive? What am I missing? we might ask:
What is mine to give?
What quality of spirit is asking to move through me here?
The light we give becomes part of the world we are creating together.
So receive deeply. Listen inwardly.
And when you feel that movement within you, let it come all the way out.
What does it mean to become a sun?
Every human being is already a sun on the inside—a being of intense love and light. The difference is that some people have the vision and courage to become a sun on the outside. This difference is our human destiny.

Your words, Lana, echo the words of Jesus: “You are the light of the world. Let your light so shine.” We are already enlightened. And our minds and our hearts know this as we simply let our natural light shine in all of the activities of our lives. Thank you for this timely reminder.
