This Week’s Quotation:

In the storytelling tradition of Africa, Iris Canham-Gezane shared this prophetic vision:

When the spirit of the white lion ascends Table Mountain and proceeds from there,
at the foot of Africa in the Cape, and ascends up through this continent,
Africa will awaken to its primal spirituality. And when Africa awakens,
this whole world will awaken to a new experience for all humanity.

This story of the white lion is an allegory for the emergence of primal spirituality in all the world. This is what we are here to do—to bring the light to bear and awaken the primal spirituality of all people.

When the White Lion Ascends Table Mountain

Modern science does a great job of describing how one manifest reality leads to another. In the physical sciences, this chemical combines with that chemical creating a new compound. In the social sciences, this social movement creates this social reaction leading to that political reality.

And so it goes until we get to the biggest description of all when it comes to one-thing-leading-to-another—the big bang. Of course, that doesn’t begin to tell us what made the big bang. Rupert Sheldrake puts it this way:

It’s almost as if science said, “Give me one free miracle, and from there the entire thing will proceed with a seamless, causal explanation.” The one free miracle was the sudden appearance of all the matter and energy in the universe, with all the laws that govern it.

What does all this have to do with white lions in South Africa? If we are to embrace our destiny as humankind, we have to see past all the secondary causes that contribute to the manifest world in which we live to know the original cause of it all. That original cause did not just work in the past in some kind of initiating act like the big bang. It is at work now through all Creation, including us.

We experience this original cause as an urge within us. It is the urge to love, to live, to create, and to thrive.

When we no longer sublimate this urge but welcome it, the urge rises in us. This is the white lion ascending Table Mountain. We become the white lion. And we embrace our primal spirituality.

What does it mean to become a sun?

Every human being is already a sun on the inside—a being of intense love and light. The difference is that some people have the vision and courage to become a sun on the outside. This difference is our human destiny.

  1. There are many trying to fix or patch up the world by working at the level of secondary causes and effects. Our interest is in world transformation and that requires work at the level of original cause and our primal spirituality, i.e. embracing the urge of which you write and identifying with the white lion. Thank you for such a clear statement of what we are here to do.
