This Week’s Quotation:

To be really free, the human capacity has to engage in contrarian thinking—thinking that goes in the opposite direction of what might seem logical on the face of it. Instead of thinking that you have to claim your own freedom, you have to find a way to surrender your freedom to the eternal cosmic Being who you are. Instead of being driven by your personal will, your personal choice, and your personal ambition, you have to surrender your will, your choice, and your ambition to the eternal cosmic Being who you are.

Claiming the Gift of our Origin Story

We are descendants of survivors. What did they do to live beyond the circumstances they faced? What ways of Being served their journey that allowed us to experience life today?

I invite you to reflect on times when your personal ambition and will didn’t serve a situation or relationship. Now, look back on times when you opened to a larger knowing beyond your capacities because you realized you weren’t getting anywhere fast.

I remember a time when I came to my wit’s end trying to implement all my wonderfully thoughtful solutions, yet I was living the same experience. In a powerful moment, I was moved to physically open my arms wide and stretch back, looking up at the sky, tears falling down my face, saying, “What do you want me to do?!” (Fill in the expletives where you see fit because they were there)

Looking back at your origin story and lineage, I am sure you can see times when opening to a larger knowing served the situation where personal will or ambition did not. There were times when an out-of-the-box way of thinking was needed, a stretching into a capacity that is beyond our earthly experience.

This is a golden opportunity we are given from our origin story: to commune with and live from the cosmic being we are, bringing the truth of our beingness into our human experience and, in doing so, truly being free.

May we orientate ourselves to the largeness of our Being, adding our gold to the lineage of humanity, and truly live!

What does it mean to become a sun?

Every human being is already a sun on the inside—a being of intense love and light. The difference is that some people have the vision and courage to become a sun on the outside. This difference is our human destiny.

  1. As David puts it, we are here to surrender our “freedom to the eternal cosmic Being who we are.” Any “freedom” we thought we knew before this wasn’t really freedom at all. We were pretty much driven by personal will, personal choice and personal ambition. Only as we train our personal will, choice and ambition to surrender and begin to consistently express the Truth of who we are can we begin to know authentic freedom. Thanks, Keahi, for acknowledging and celebrating this in your insightful words.

  2. Yes, I appreciate all that you (both David and Keahi, and also Jerry in his comment) offer. Bigtime mahalo to you. Keahi your story reminds me of uranda’s words, “when you can no longer find they way out, you find the way in.” That is a power origination of the REAL SELF for us all. I also want to honor ll the great work that you do, Keahi, as well as advocating the various opportunities on this site such as David’s book, many other articles, subscription, and mailing list. Thanks again. Love, Tom C.
