The eternal doesn’t just want to teach you and direct you from the outside, through the teaching or direction of someone else, or through a philosophy or creed. While those ways of leading might make a good start to a spiritual journey, as a destination they are the booby prize. The eternal Being who you are is not satisfied with your human compliance or obedience. It is looking for total takeover—full incarnation, full self-emergence through the human capacity.

Full Self Emergence

I remember when, 20 years ago, another layer of realization came upon me. It is reflected in this chapter of my book, which I entitled “Freedom for the One I Am.”

What came over me so profoundly was the radical nature of the change we are called to as human beings. As the quotation above says, it is to live as the eternal Being that is the reality of who we are. This doesn’t exempt us from all the human experiences that anyone on Planet Earth encounters. It simply means that we enter those experiences from a transcendent perspective, constantly releasing identification with the outer facets of them and knowing ourselves as the One Who Dwells within those experiences. It is identifying ourselves as nothing from the standpoint of the human world and yet as the most powerful force in that world—the power of Creation itself.

Today, I celebrate the call to this experience, and I surrender to its mystery.

What does it mean to become a sun?

Every human being is already a sun on the inside—a being of intense love and light. The difference is that some people have the vision and courage to become a sun on the outside. This difference is our human destiny.
